The man in the middle of this photo is Minoru Yamasaki, presenting his master plan for Wascana Centre in Regina, Saskatchewan.

In the early 1960s, Yamasaki planned Wascana Centre, including the new University of Saskatchewan Regina Campus, now the University of Regina.

Fun fact: he also designed the original World Trade Center in New York.

In 2012, at the plan’s 50th anniversary, Intelligent Futures was brought in to define the next fifty. We ran an extensive community engagement process called ourWascana and built a 50-year vision out of thousands of voices. The project won an award from the International Association for Public Participation (IAP2).

You can find out more about Wascana Centre in this infographic that we created for the ourWascana process.
