The Singing Fish
This is The Singing Fish by Joan Miró.
John spent a semester studying in Barcelona, where Miró is impossible to avoid. His work runs all through the city, from gallery walls to a mosaic set right into the pavement on La Rambla that thousands of people walk across without looking down.
In Miró’s work, the shapes look loose, bright, almost like a child got hold of the paint. That reads as effortless, even accidental. It wasn’t. He drafted, reworked, and placed every mark on purpose. The playfulness was the product of real discipline, not the absence of it.
That’s the parallel to how we work. Our best projects look easy from the outside. A workshop that flows, a strategy that feels obvious the moment it lands. That ease is built. Good process is a craft, not an accident, and the serious work usually hides behind a surface that looks light.
